Please do not buy a fake!


At this point, I would like to inform you why it is important to buy an authentic reborn baby. This applies to both finished babies and the kits for creating your own reborn baby.


What is a fake?

But what exactly is a fake baby? The kits for reborn babies are crafted by artists with loving attention to detail and are usually released in limited editions. The creation of a kit takes many hours.

  1. First, the baby is sculpted from modelling clay - depending on the kit, with a head, arms, and legs. You can imagine that this step alone takes many hours of work. If you are interested in sculpting your own unique baby, there is also a promising book at once so real. However, I do not have any experience with it yet, as I have not purchased it myself. But I will definitely do that.Here is definitely the link to the book.
  2. After the finished sculpted parts have cured (these are usually baked in the oven), they are further refined to bring out additional details and possibly smooth out any unevenness. Afterwards, the parts are thoroughly cleaned.
  3. In the next step, this original model is used to create a silicone mould, which is then used to cast the vinyl parts.

Another point in the production of the blanks is the vinyl used. High-quality Real Touch vinyl is used. 

Now that you have received this information, let's talk about the fakes. A fake is usually a copy of a kit created by an artist. 


What is so bad about that?

I don't need to explain further why that is reprehensible. Someone has invested a lot of time in modelling the baby. And it's not just about the time, but also the love that the respective artist has put into designing the baby. It is certainly not hard to imagine how hurtful it is for an artist to discover cheap copies of their own work. In addition to this fact, it should be noted that these fakes do not use high-quality Real Touch vinyl, but questionable materials that are significantly cheaper. These materials do not meet German standards and can indeed emit toxic substances, which can be carcinogenic among other things. So, if one has the idea to buy a significantly cheaper kit or finished baby, despite the fact that it is an illegal copy of a kit from a well-known artist, one should at least value their own health. Therefore, purchasing such fakes is URGENTLY discouraged!


But they are so much cheaper!

Yes, they are! And if you have read my previous explanations, you now know why that is. Are you really ready to support something like this and, by the way, jeopardise your health? Wouldn't you rather have a baby that is good for you, instead of harming your health? Furthermore, by purchasing an authentic reborn kit or baby, you support the respective artist. And I think they truly deserve that!


How do I recognise if it is a fake?

  1. The price: Is your desired reborn exceptionally cheap? Here you can assume that it is a fake. Even used reborns cost at least over £200!
  2. No marking on the neck: Authentic reborns have the artist's name stamped on the neck. Additionally, all parts have the number of the corresponding kit. However, there are older kits that did not have these markings.
  3. Dubious source: Do you want to purchase your reborn through Aliexpress, Temu, Amazon...? Here you will generally not find authentic reborns; they are fundamentally fakes!
  4. Certificate: Ask to see the certificate and, if applicable, the birth certificate. Older reborn kits may not have a certificate, but they will definitely have a birth certificate. The artist confirms the authenticity of the kit with this!
  5. Proof photos: Ask to see photos that confirm the appearance of the baby. Request detail photos and photos with a handwritten note with the current date and information about the baby.

  1. The safest way is to shop with reputable dealers. I personally always buy from once so real, as I am convinced of the range, quality, and customer support.
